The Problem
Most of what a parent knows has nowhere to go.
Parents of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities — including profound autism — carry knowledge that exists nowhere else. They have written emergency protocols in their heads. They know what calms their child, what triggers a crisis, what sounds like "fine" but never is.
That knowledge is not in any file. It is not in the records. It lives only in the parent. And when that parent is no longer able to explain it — because of illness, incapacity, or death — the people who step in have to learn from scratch, at the worst possible moment.

Anya is built for parents of children with autism (including severe or profound autism), Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, Fragile X syndrome, Prader-Willi syndrome, Angelman syndrome, Rett syndrome, and other intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) — parents who have written their own ER protocols, who carry knowledge that exists nowhere else, and who know that when they are gone or unable to explain, everything they know about their child could be lost.
Anya is not built for families navigating a 504 plan. It is built for families whose children require lifelong, 24/7, high-complexity care from the people responsible for them — and for whom the question of what happens next is not abstract. It is urgent.

The Founder
Built by someone who spent 30 years in IDD law.
After three decades of representing families in IDD law, Michael Pearce watched the same crisis repeat: a parent becomes unable to explain what they know, and the people who take over start from zero — guessing, missing things, causing harm through ignorance rather than indifference.
His practice covered special needs trusts, including first-party (d)(4)(A) trusts, pooled (d)(4)(C) trusts, and irrevocable trusts; trust administration; court proceedings to modify, validate, and reform special needs trusts; adult guardianships, conservatorships, and limited conservatorships; and SSI, Medicaid, Medi-Cal, and other public benefits — along with continuity planning for parents.
While in practice, Michael created the Family Income, Reserve, and Security Trust (the FIRST Plan), a planning structure that provides for a child with IDD over the long term while preserving a fair share of the family’s estate for their other children. After leaving the practice of law, he continued working with families through SHIFT, his non-legal consulting business, helping parents of adult children with IDD plan their child’s move from the family home into care outside it.
Anya was founded on a single conviction: the knowledge a parent holds is the most valuable, most fragile, and most overlooked asset in the life of a person with profound disabilities. When a parent can no longer be there to explain it, that knowledge should already be preserved — accurate, current, and in the parent’s own words.
